We're gettin' hitched

Valerie Peters and Andy Fox are getting married. It's a big process and we want to share it with all of you. Lucky, right?

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone that came to my shower yesterday! Many thanks especially to Tammy and the bridal party for being terrific hostesses! It was beautiful.

Wedding Hair

I had my appointment for the practice wedding updo today and Maid of Honor Kimmy was awesome and went with me (it’s her long-time hair salon and I had never been there). The owner, Charlene, is doing my style and I decided to have my make-up done there too. We have an appointment for 6 ladies - me, Kim, Becky, Colleen, Brittany, and Mama Fox (my mother wanted to go with her usual hairstylist at another salon). They’re going to be very busy that day with three other wedding parties to do as well! I feel bad for any gents that decide to get their hair chopped then. It will be a total cloud of hairspray.

Charlene did my hair up with a billion bobby pins and put my “crown” (still not comfortable calling it that because it’s not crown-like) and veil on. Loved it! Kim took pictures but I guess I can’t really post them and spoil it for all of you! Then Charlene also gave me a much needed hair cut and I really like it if I can ever get it to look this way again. You know how it is.

In somewhat non-wedding related news, we had our fantasy football draft at the Fox Den today. As Superbowl champ I’m eager for this season. And guess who I’m playing against week 1? I’ll give you a hint…I beat him to become the Superbowl champion. That’s right - I’ll be kicking Andy’s butt again :)

La Luna de Miel (Honeymoon)

I booked the honeymoon this morning. So excited for it. In choosing a hotel, I found one in the area we want to stay that has both Twitter and Facebook accounts (instant points for that - I appreciate it when businesses are up-to-date with current technology and trends - and it’s so important to go where your customers are) so I asked a question or two via direct message on Twitter and received a response from the front desk manager with her email address. We emailed back and forth a number of times. She was so helpful and knowledgeable every step of the way. Incredible customer service is very important to me, so when we had our decision narrowed down to two different places, it was no contest. We will drive there, arriving the 20th and departing to head home on the 26th.

We were also able to book several special packages with our stay at the resort, so a lot of the activities we’ll be doing on Cape Cod are included. Here are just a few of the things we have planned:

  • Whale watching
  • 2-hour scenic train ride
  • Scenic boat tour
  • Tour of Cape Cod Brewery (on Andy’s Birthday!)
  • Day trips to Martha’s Vineyard and/or Nantucket
  • Day trip to Provincetown, likely stopping at Truro Vineyard for a wine tasting on the way there
  • Eating delicious seafood

Meetings.

On Tuesday we met with our officiant and his wife. They’re such a sweet couple - married 42 years! They had lots of great stories to tell and we chatted with them for a quite a while. The ceremony is going to be pretty short and sweet. Andy’s dad and my cousin/god-mother Tammy will be giving readings for us.

Last night we met with Bethany, our photographer, to go over all the details for the day and what we’re looking for with our photos. It was Andy’s first time meeting her and my second. She’s so well-organized and easy to work with - I’m really looking forward to having her capture all the memories for us.

Andy is the best guy in the whole wide world and I love him. That is all :)

The shower is a week from today!

Can’t wait to enjoy Cape Cod!

I had a chance to catch up with Colleen today and fill her in on all the inside info on the wedding. It was so good to get together. She’s one of those rare people who really just gets it and we can go awhile without seeing each other, but we always pick right up where we left off without skipping a beat. Essentially, she’s good people.

Edit: Colleen is a total sap and I love it.
